Wearing Religious Jewelry

Although there has been much debate regarding the wearing of crosses and crucifixes as jewelry, it is important to understand why we do it at all. Christians began wearing crosses around their necks some time after the death by crucifixion was no hip among the heathens, and thus it isn't the same as someone weather an electric chair around his neck now. Now, keep in mind that the only reasons Scripture might forbid wearing a cross or crucifix is if the object became an idol used for worship, which if you're on this site, is pretty unlikely. We here have never seen a necklace, pendant, or ring be used as an object of worship or idolatry. Many people wear the cross or crucifix as a fashion accessory, never giving pause to the symbolism and purpose, but that's okay, because that doesn't mean that Christians can't wear them. Many Christians wear crosses as a proud expression of their love, respect, and service to Christ, along with a remembrance of what He did for us, and there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to do the same.
